Cannabidiol, or CBD, is one of over a hundred cannabinoids found in Cannabis sativa. These natural substances are unique in the way they interact with the body. CBD is no exception.

The role of CBD as a cannabinoid is diverse. One of the reasons why the CBD oil is so accessible is that it is not psychotropic and has an excellent safety profile. That is why CBD oil is one of the most popular products with cannabidiol.

CBD belongs to a category of organic substances called phytocannabinoids (usually referred to as cannabinoids). These substances are unique in that they can affect the human body through activation of the following receptors:

• CB1 and CB2

• TRPV

• GPR55

CB receptors, or cannabinoid receptors, influence a regulatory system in our body called the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The main function of this system is to promote homeostasis; supporting the physical balance of various biological systems.

The influence of CBD on the ECS is unique. The CBD oil acts as the "general manager" of the entire system and does not bind itself so much to CB receptors. It supports the ECS as a whole and helps the body function in a balanced way.

CBD stimulates the production of beneficial endocannabinoids, enzymes and neurochemicals. It is thought to affect various systems as a result, such as digestion and the central and peripheral nervous systems. When our body is in balance, it functions as efficiently as possible. It can also deal better with fluctuations in our physical and mental health.
